Regional Elizabeth Fry Centres

Regionalization

Since 1995, the Société has worked to develop regional services in order to respond to the needs of women involved with the criminal justice system in the localities concerned.  It wishes to offer services where women can benefit from alternative sentencing measures, specialized assistance programs and a support network.

The creation of centres in Estrie, Outaouais and Mauricie from 1997 to 2000 was the response of the Société to the lack of specialized resources for women in conflict with the law.  The regional Elizabeth Fry Centres were able to be created due to the support of the community, correctional and judicial partners, as well as the financial assistance of les Services correctionnels du Québec.

Their Mission

The Elizabeth Fry Centres offer women in conflict with the law services adapted to their situation in order to assist them with their reintegration into their respective communities.  This allows these women to remain in their communities and still be able to take part in various activities and programs to assist them in their social reintegration.
